This recent survey of girls in Sierra Leone provides a glimpse into the very real and difficult challenges they face on a daily basis. Early marriage, teen pregnancy and gender-based violence remain staggeringly high while educational opportunity is dismally low. Progress has been made in the post-conflict years, however it is not enough and has not reached the most vulnerable and isolated. In the next series of blogs, we will explore the roots of these issues and, most importantly, ways to make meaningful change.
